God is Love. There are three Persons of the Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The Father begets the Son, and the Spirit proceeds from the Father. Each Person of the Trinity is in Essence (technical term), God. Just like we are all in Essence, Man.
Well, not “just like.” We Men are individuated, separate beings. We are finite, and divided. The Persons of the Trinity are all infinite, because they are all in Essence, God. In Essence, they are indistinguishable, though not confused. They “are” and “exist” in the fullness of the Communion Relationship of Love. God is Love. And so we refer to them as Trinity or God in the singular.
We can aim for this in our relationships of Love. We love because God first Loved us. At our core, we know what love is because we exist. If God did not Love us, we would not exist. <blink> we’re gone. Communion, as a Church concept, is the extension of the very Love of God the Trinity transmitted in a physical / mystical way to us in the form of bread and wine. These things ARE the Body and Blood of Christ, in the same way that the Church is the Body of Christ. In fact, this is why the Church is the Body of Christ. We partake of His Body and Blood and are transformed by the Love Relationship into His Body.
This is what Christ does — transforms us. It’s not that we will be saved. He is the one who is “saved.” Or maybe I should say, He is Salvation. We are “saved” by virtue of the fact that we are part of His Body. That’s what saves us… our being a part of His Body. It’s nothing that we do.
The question is simply how do we become a part of His Body? Well, try. Take one step, and see how far He comes to meet you.
