I was just thinking of this bit of wisdom, and here it is.

Here’s a word origin game. Think back to your childhood, and imagine your dad asked you to go get him the “shelelah.”

In the comments, describe the item you’re fetching, and what might be about to happen?

I’m looking for your family use of the term, not the Wikipedia definition or any link to Etsy.

I’ll be honest and say I do resemble this Venn diagram.

Ugh, all the whining is getting to me. Here’s what a patriotic American would say on a couple of issues that fill my Facebook feed:

I have a right to life, and a responsibility to protect the lives of others. I will do my duty to support the health and welfare of my nation by doing what I can to fight when called. I will help when asked. I’ll participate to prevent the spread of disease when needed. I’ll look for ways I can maximally do my part with honor, and not whine about the minor inconveniences of PPE.

By any means provided I will vote. I will do my duty as a citizen and make my voice known. I will do my part regardless of power hungery non-patriots who spread the lie that my vote doesn’t matter. I will not take part in corruption, and I will not let fear of corruption prevent me from doing my part, be it casting my vote or serving in office, with honor.

One neighbor lost 13 people last month. Another has lost 5 we’ve been told. A co-worker lost 2 family members.

Prayers go out to everyone affected by the pandemic.

Why do I have all those clothes? Apparently I can get by very well with 1 pair of pants, 1 pair of shorts, a t-tshirt and a button down shirt. Plus pj’s and underwear.

How is it with you?

Post from a friend in a different social circle that I couldn’t share directly. But I thought would be worth y’all seeing. Thanks Ruthie:

“So a friend of [theirs]is just getting over COVID 19. 7-8 days of hell. Hard to breathe, cough that won’t quit, high fever, diarrhea. Dr couldn’t test. Tests are only for 65 and older who are sick, first responders and medical personnel. He’s just getting over it. 60 years old. Thought this is good info for all of us. Stay at home. Don’t go to the dr unless you have severe problems breathing. Quarantine yourself to one room within your home so you don’t infect other family members. Take medicine to treat the symptoms. Over the counter. Ride it out if at all possible.

We can get through this.”

I predict a sleekly designed consumer face shield will be the new VR / AR form factor. We’ll all be wearing them, and quickly once our “love” of cloth masks wears off.
